Regrettably, the Human Barnacle is still among the living but the prognosis isn’t good. If the [intracranial] hematoma doesn’t subside, Daniela would have to undergo a potentially life-threatening operation. So, we have that to look forward to. Upon hearing this, Alfredo breaks down and starts blaming himself for neglecting his brat. Milagros says this isn’t the time for self-flagellation. She suggests he go home to shower and rest before visiting hours start.

Rebeca is incensed that Alonso bequeathed 10% of the fábrica’s shares to old man Nazario. Out of her own percentage, no less! She reproaches Amador for not informing her about this, but he didn’t know either. Now she’s going to need his shares to ensure that things at the fábrica go her way. His shares? What shares is Amador talking about? Lucía and Nora got 40% each, while Rebeca and Nazario received 10% apiece. I’m no wiz at arithmetics, but even I know that 40 + 40 + 10 + 10 = 100%. Moving on. Rebeca doesn’t think she and her allies could control the fábricaas long as Marcelo is orbiting their lives. A gleeful Amador breaks down the happy news: Marcelo has been arrested this morning on fraud charges and he’ll be transferred to the county jail in 3 or 4 days, once the judge issues a formal detention order (dictar auto de formal prisión). Rebeca asks who is the legal counsel representing them. No worries, toots. It’s someone I trust entirely.

Tricky Ricky can’t withdraw money from the bank because the deposit he’s expecting hasn’t been made. He calls Alfredo to demand that he keep his end of the bargain. Alfredo advises him not to hold his breath and blames him for Daniela’s near-fatal accident.

At the Ministerio Público, Marcelo reveals to Mario that he has suspected for a while now that Rebeca and Amador were hatching a plan against him. That’s why he has been keeping copies of all the accounting books and financial documentation at his place. He didn’t mention this to Sergio because he doesn’t trust him, being besties with Rodrigo Zúñiga and all. Mario assures him that Sergio is an ethical trustworthy professional.

Elsewhere in the city, Sergio is proving his boss wrong by spilling the chisme/gossip to Rodrigo about Marcelo’s arrest and the suspicion that the charges against him were spuriously devised by Amador and Rebeca. Rodrigo is pleased by the news. He feels he can swoop in and pick up the pieces, now that Marcelo is out of commission. Vitch, were you dropped on your head as a baby? How in poo-perfect hell do you realistically expect a woman to take you back after you ditched her at the altar and you knocked up her no-good hoe of a sister?

At the fábrica, Lucía is obsessing over Marcelo: Why hasn’t he arrived yet? Why isn’t he answering my calls? Why isn’t he sitting at my feet and gazing up at me adoringly? Nazario calls the apartment’s landline and Rafaela informs him that Marcelo has been arrested. Lucía gets frantic and full of angst: “Arrested? Why? This is absurd! I’m going to see him right now!”

At Casa Gaxiola, Nora flashbacks to her mother’s interrogation about Daniela Suárez. If Mommy Whorest is right and Daniela has indeed returned to Puebla to stalk Marcelo into getting back together with her, then Nora will do whatever it takes to outstalk the Human Barnacle and trap Marcelo first!

Detective Ramos informs Comandante Juárez that Marcelo Escalante, the infamous owner of Plot Gun and notorious Gaxiola family orbiter, has been arrested for fraud. When Ramos investigated (indagar) the matter further, he discovered that the plaintiff’s lawyer is none other than Ricardo Márquez. But wait, it gets curiouser and curiouser: The fraud was allegedly committed against Talavera Gaxiola, which is owned by the family of Marcelo’s fiancée, a family that includes Rebeca Murillo who, not long ago, was embroiled in a host of problems with Ricardo Márquez! How do you like that?

Mario checks the documents Marcelo has been jealously guarding in his apartment and assures Milagros and Rafaela that he can get his client released on bail (fianza). Milagros wants to see her boy but the visits are restricted (restringidas). Mario promises to get her a visit permit first thing in the morning but Mother Terror doesn’t want to wait.

Lucía is making a scene at the Ministerio Público because she has been denied permission to visit her “fiancé”. Nazario tells her she is too agitated and needs to calm down: “A fuerza ni los zapatos entran. With force, not even shoes will fit. Finesse can pass any test. We need to try and arrange things amiably. Let me handle this, hija.”

Nora looks for Daniela at the Harpies’ Nest and is received by Alfredo. She pretends she is a friend of his daughter’s. He informs her that Daniela had an accident and is at Puebla’s favorite hospital. “Who should I say has been asking for her?” “Nora Gaxiola.” “You’re the daughter of...” “Alonso Gaxiola and Rebeca Murillo. Do you know them?” “I know you mother.” “Then I’ll tell her you said hello.”

Back at the Ministerio Público, a tearful Lucía is filled with angst and desperation. She cries out the name of her betrothed : “Marcelo!” Inside, an angst-ridden Marcelo leans against the bars of his prison cell and calls out to his ladylove: “Lucía!” His disquiet reverberates through Lucía: “I want to see you! I need to see you!” Marcelo intercepts the angsty telepathic waves: “If only you were here!” You mean here, locked up with you? Hehehehe. These two! Nazario comes back to interrupt the telepathic pingpong and announces that he wasn’t able to get Lucía a visit permit. On their way out, they bump into Mother Terror who lays into Lucía: “What are you doing here? Leave my son alone! Because of you, my son is locked up and Daniela is dying! I curse the hour Marcelo came here and met you!” Nazario tells Lucía to ignore her. She’s only lashing out because she’s worried about her son. “But why did she say that Daniela is dying because of me?” “Maybe she meant it figuratively? Let’s go see Mario!” We all need a Nazario in our lives to dismiss troubling thoughts out of hand.

At the fábrica, Lalo informs some of the guys about an upcoming domino game at the house of one of their colleagues. He instructs them to bring snacks (botanas) using a phrase that ought to be immortalized in every house party and/or barbecue invitation. “Hay que llevar botanas. A ustedes nomás les dicen lleven algo y lo que llevan son invitados. Pónganse abusados,  You gotta bring snacks. When you guys are told to bring something, all you bring are guests. Wise up, peeps!”

Lalo calls Vinicio to give him a disdainful once-over and warn him that he won’t last long at the fábrica, now that Don Nazario is back. Vinicio retorts that he has the support of one of the owners, the powerful one who boasts a substantial percentage of invisible shares. Lalo is curious to find out what dirt Vinicio has on Amador to warrant such a privileged relationship between the two of them. “He [Amador] just happens to know that I’m trustworthy/dependable (ser de fiar)!”

At Casa Zúñiga, the prodigal son is visiting to let his father know that he has decided to reintegrate Talavera Gaxiola. Happy happy, joy joy!

At the Ministerio Público, Milagros tells the officer manning the reception area her sob story of losing both her sons, one to Plot Gun and the other to trumped-up fraud charges. She manages to get a visit permit to see Marcelo.

At Casa Gaxiola, Nora reports to her mother what she learnt about Daniela today. Strangely, Daniela’s dad asked her to say hi to Rebeca for him. Does she know him? Mommy Whorest denies, denies, denies.

Tricky Ricky wants to see Daniela but Alfredo orders him to scram.

Lucía gives her uncle Mario attitude for not neglecting his attorney duties to notify her royal highness that her pet fiancé is behind bars. Magdalena is hopping mad when she learns that Rebeca might have had a hand in Marcelo’s arrest.

At Puebla’s favorite hospital, Tricky Ricky has a chance encounter with his baby mama. He tells her that he’s visiting a friend with benefits and she replies that she doesn’t give a flying hoot about the minor details (los pormenores) of his private life. Before she walks away, he asks her what happened with the concerted effort to unmask Rebeca. Did Sara confront her with the hospital logsheet that proves Adriana was examined by a doctor the day she had her fatal balustrade free fall? Sara says she did but Rebeca denied everything. More tangible proofs are needed to corroborate these accusations. Sara can’t imagine what Alonso would’ve done had he seen that hospital logsheet. Ricardo reckons “He [Alonso] would have forced her [Rebeca] to confess. The death of Alonso, the fact that he couldn’t divorce her and the fact that he couldn’t corner her (acorralar), have all been really convenient for Rebeca. [...] It’s very odd but every time Rebeca is about to be exposed, someone close to her, or directly related to her ends up dead!”

At Casa Gaxiola, Rebeca rethinks the moment Alfredo recognized her as Adriana Murillo. Tere’s knock breaks Rebe out of her angsty reverie. She needs permission to go buy some bread for dinner. Yeah, whatever, go! Tere finds creepy Vinicio lurking outside the Gaxiolas’ front gate. He wants to accompany her on her errand but she curtly declines. He tells her that he didn’t get Don Nazario fired and that all those rumors Lalo is spreading about him are unfounded. Tere doesn’t understand why he’s talking to her about this stuff. He says he doesn’t want her to have a bad impression of him. She retorts that she has neither a bad nor a good impression of him. In other words, pish aff, weirdo! You don’t even register on my radar! Nazario brings Lucía home. He spots Vinicio from afar but doesn’t acknowledge him. Vinicio scurries away.

Lucía wants her padrino to help her with the admin duties at the fábrica until Marcelo is released and able to return to work. “Does that mean you don’t want him to leave Puebla?” “I never wanted him to” she confesses. “Or leave your life?” “I don’t know. I can’t forget what my dad told me before he died”. Nazario assures his goddaughter that wherever her dad is, he wants her to be happy.

Milagros tells Rafaelo about her visit to Marcelo. When Rafaela mentions that Mario is the husband of Lucía’s other aunt, Magdalena, Mother Terror launches into one of her classic “I Hate Lucía” tirades. Moving on.

At Casa Gaxiola, Lucía accuses Rebeca of framing Marcelo. Rebeca vehemently denies having had anything to do with the fraud charges. “Sorry your boyfriend turned out to be a thief! And thank goodness Amador discovered the embezzlement (desfalco) on time!” Nora interrupts the bickering to announce Dr. Román Andrade. My psychiatrist is here to see you. MY psychiatrist! Here to see YOU! Downstairs, the lovelorn doc says he went looking for Lucía at her aunt Magdalena’s house first. He is very sorry that her pregnancy turned out to be a false alarm and he feels guilty because he was the one who pressured her to clear up her doubts (salir de dudas). Yep, the maybe-baby debacle was all his fault! Had he kept his mouth shut, an embryo bearing Marcelo’s DNA would’ve magically materialized inside Lucía’s womb! Moving on. Lucía reveals that Marcelo is in trouble. Bigly. As per usual, she turns on the waterworks and gives the lovelorn doc a full body embrace that lasts and lasts, interspersed with 4 short interruptions where they got to lovingly gaze into each other’s eyes, their faces mere millimeters from one another. Nora captures this intimate moment on her cellphone.

At Casa Ezquerra, Lety TMZ is bummed out that Sergio didn’t show up at the office today, when she made herself all purty just for him. Sara asks her if she knows a girl by the name Daniela Suárez. Pfff, what kind of question is that? For shizzle, I know everything about her! I’m Lety TMZ, for crying out loud! Here, have a seat and prepare your ears to receive the full chisme: Daniela is Marcelo’s ex, and she is also Ligia’s cousin. You know, the one who accused Rodrigo Zúñiga of killing her cousin whom he used to boink on the down-low? Well, she also happens to be my Daddy’s latest squeeze! Sara interrupts her daughter’s barrage of gossip: Daniela is in the intensive care unit, fighting for her life.

Back at Casa Gaxiola, Nora is in her room, ready to text her sister’s compromising photo to Marcelo with the caption: “Look what Lucía is doing while you’re locked up.” She doesn’t get a chance to send it though, because Lucía barges in to announce that dinner is served. Nora jumps up and hides the phone behind her back. “What were you doing?” enquires Lucía. Nora denies she was doing anything and shoves the cellphone in her nightstand drawer. “Why did you hide the phone? Who were you going to talk to?” “Nobody!” That’s enough for Lucía to lose her rag and start wrestling her sister to get to the phone. She opens the drawer and spots something shiny and crucial to the advancement of the plot. Yay! It’s Plot Earring! “This earring (arete) belongs to your mother! Why do you have it? Where did you find it? ¡Contéstame!Answer me!” Oooh, goody! Someone is getting scalped tonight!

Ling Qiao takes Jing Zhi to Ling Nan Court, one of the many places where he hid his family’s relics. After finding the right coordinates, Ling Qiao starts to dig and this time, he exhumes a jade bracelet. He casually gives it to Jing Zhi, who is obviously awed. She then asks him how many did he hide and he nonchalantly tells her it’s enough to open a private museum. Wow! Ling Qiao is loaded!

Ling Qiao brings Jing Zhi to the stony beach. While she excitedly digs up ‘relics’ on the shores, Ling Qiao ‘talks’ with his imaginary friend. He tells his friend that Jing Zhi is his oblivious, luckless and stingy landlord. But even though she’s a pain, he is fully aware that she’s the only one who can help him find his murderer. Since the monster video plan is a failure, the only way now is to keep track of who sold his mom’s phoenix jade. He’s dead sure he didn’t sell it, therefore, the person who did may be the one who dried up all his blood.

Ye Chen learns that Professor Li left his company ID at the research facility. He finds it strange that the professor forgot to bring his ID when he is said to be attending a conference. Ye Chen decides to go to the professor’s house. It’s left unlock, so he comes in uninvited.

But unknown to him, some mysterious guy is already in there. He’s installing something in the professor’s computer. And while Ye Chen wanders around the house, the man immediately hides from sight and draws a knife, aiming at Ye Chen’s back. Good thing, the security guard comes by just in time which forces the man to return to hiding. Phew! After talking with the guard, Ye Chen leaves and the man resumes to his work.

Like what Ye Chen suspected, Professor Li is not attending a conference but is busy conducting his own investigation on the missing dormant body case. He talks with the man who was first on the scene and discovers that the reported pervert and the dormant body wore the same clothes.

Jing Zhi is having a difficult time deciding whether to return or accept Ling Qiao’s gift, so she turns to social media for some advice, but it proves to be an inept move when people bashed her instead. Haha! In the end, she returns the bracelet, saying that one cannot be too greedy. Ling Qiao agrees and tells her to use it as an additional funding for her well-digging activities. Jing Zhi is so overwhelmed that she unconsciously kisses Ling Qiao on the cheeks and promises to help him break into Yan Zi’s house the next day. Her innocent gestures brings out a blush from Ling Qiao. Aww!

Yan Zi takes on an indeterminate vacation leave and stays at home per his Captain’s advice. There, Jing Zhi pays him a ‘surprise’ visit. Well, not really a surprise since it is part of the break in plan. Hehe! Jing Zhi will serve as a diversion while Ling Qiao access Yan Zi’s computer. Dong Dong, on the other hand, will be the lookout.

Yan Zi is apparently happy to see Jing Zhi as he didn’t even bother to guard his emotions and gives her a back hug. Aw! Perplexed by his actions, Jing Zhi can only ask if something’s wrong. He instantaneously denies. It’s a shame he has a terminal illness.

Once Jing Zhi gives the go signal, Ling Qiao gets inside Yan Zi’s room. Luckily Yan Zi’s computer is already signed in at the police office’s data base. However, the site needs a password and inputting the wrong code will automatically shut down the database for an hour.

In the living room, Jing Zhi excuses herself to hide in the bathroom. She then tells Ling Qiao that her birthday has always been Yan Zi’s password. Thankfully, it still is! Phew! While Jing Zhi is busy secretly talking with Ling Qiao via an earpiece device, Yan Zi hears tapping from his room and walks slowly towards it, armed with a wine bottle. Seeing Yan Zi’s attempt to go to his room, Jing Zhi feigns to slip. Yan Zi dashes to the bathroom, giving Ling Qiao enough time to escape.

Right on cue, Dong Dong knocks on the door and reminds Jing Zhi that she still has a shoot. Yan Zi laughs at her ‘carelessness’.

On the way home, Ling Qiao mulls over the fact that Yan Zi still uses Jing Zhi’s birthday as the password. But, Jing Zhi assures it’s only natural since she and Yan Zi grew up together and is practically family. This answers Ling Qiao’s speculations and he then treats Jing Zhi and Dong Dong for a midnight snack.

With their mission’s success, Ling Qiao gets hold of the phoenix jade current owner’s address. He advises Jing Zhi not to join him this time because she’ll only be in a harm’s way. But because she’s hardheaded, she still follows his trail the next day. So, Ling Qiao is forced to tag her along.

They find the address but unfortunately they’re too late. The couple are already dead and to prevent Jing Zhi from seeing the dead bodies, Ling Qiao pulls her for a hug.

After the news of the double murder breakout, Yan Zi volunteers to investigate on the case despite being on official leave.

At home, Jing Zhi cries from guilt and fear. She blames her bad luck for the death of the couple. Ling Qiao sympathetically disagrees, telling her that it’s not her fault and promises to keep her safe no matter what.

Later that night, Ling Qiao thinks by himself, asking the heavens how he can heal a heartache. Wounds are definitely a hundred times easier to heal. He feels that Jing Zhi is having bad dream, so just to give her a little comfort, he settles on hugging her tight. Awww!

Meanwhile, the enemy has been informed of Professor Li’s hunt for the monster. Because of that, the enemy warns the professor to butt off and stick to the scientifics or something bad will happen to his family.

The next morning, Ling Qiao makes Jing Zhi a drink. It’s supposed to be an energy drink I think. But given Ling Qiao’s horrible cooking skills, Jing Zhi tries to make up lame excuses just to avoid glugging down the dreadful drink. However, Ling Qiao insists and she’s forced to drink all of it. And yeah, she’s right. It tastes awful! Haha! Out of the blue, Ling Qiao wipes off the juice on the sides of her mouth using his thumb. This seemingly innocent but sweet gesture turns Jing Zhi into a disgruntled zombie. Haha!

Now back to the double murder case, Yan Zi and his team concludes that the culprit was after the phoenix jade. Ling Qiao learns that the niece of the deceased couple came to bury her relatives, so he pretends to be one of the police investigators in charge with the case. He talks privately with the niece and probes about the relic. The niece readily relays that the jade was pawned by a young man at her great grandfather’s shop. After the young man was gone, her great grandfather inspected the jade’s box and found a secret compartment. Inside was a picture of the young man and his mother. Since their great grandfather can’t bear to sell the jade, he kept it as a family heirloom. And if only her aunt wasn’t sick years ago, her uncle wouldn’t be forced to sell the jade.

Professor Li files a leave of absence from work. He spills his plans to Ye Chen. The truth is he didn’t really go to a business trip and only stayed at home. He already knew that the dormant body was the reason why Jing Zhi acquired the prefect enzyme, and he was trying to find the corpse by himself. At first, he was only driven because of scientific discoveries, but later, he became greedy and aimed on making a cure for his daughter using the monsters blood.

Jing Zhi is all giddy remembering Ling Qiao’s sweet gesture. Dong Dong then notices that she hasn’t wiped off her make up. She usually cleanses after a shoot. With Dong Dong’s comment, Jing Zhi realizes that she had been unkempt and messy at home. Haha! Her panic-stricken reaction compels Dong Dong to bluntly remind her that having romantic desires for Ling Qiao will end up with a tragedy. But Jing Zhi continues to deny liking him.

Ye Chen and Yan Zi meet up for their regular dormant body progress report. But sadly, there is nothing to report as their investigation arrives at a dead-end. While looking at his phone’s GPS tracker app, Yan Zi discovers that on the day of the double murder, the car he lent to Jing Zhi was parked near crime scene. Dun! Dun! Dun!

Since Mr Mo told him to think of the thing that triggered off the previous sighting of the woman in the glass bead, Sheng goes back to his quarters, locks himself up with strict instructions not be disturbed and dregs of memories of that fateful night 4 (or 14 ^^) years ago. However rather than see her, he’s transported back to that very night and faced with Evil Sheng who is all guy-liner-ed up with several undulating whips of energy on his back.
Evil Sheng is helluvalot sexy. I can't say I prefer him to softie Sheng, but ... maybe I do a little. I actually really like the magic tail effect - it looks like they're fox spirits.
Yes, the fox tails! I keep thinking that. And yes! Evil Sheng is fire. I was thinking it would be great if softie Sheng and evil Sheng merged, you know?

“Evil” Sheng tells him although he is locked away for now, he won’t be forever and will soon be unleashed. Sheng stabs him but also feels the pain (Seeing as they are halves of the same, duh) and finally Evil Sheng has enough of talking to him him and flings him away.
Come on, boy. Embrace your dark self. I am sure it will make everything better.
I can think of a couple things it would make pretty damn good.

He lands in this cool reflective world and finally meets the woman in the bead! Yay! Turns out he is actually in the bead with her. Wicked! She tells in the bead, it is lonely, no concept of time, no past, no future. She also can’t remember why she is in the bead but feels her original home is in the sea (there’s a brief mention of the Duke Heng ship, hmmm interesting).
That! She probably is of that tribe? Mertribe? Shiptribe?
Isn't she a Charmer? I would hate that world...why isn't she crazy from the nothingness?
They said she's "from the sea".

Surprisingly enough, other people sometimes appear in bead but he is the first to ever see or talk to her. He is very happy to be the first to do so (Men!). She doesn’t have a name and he offers to give her one. Alas after some miscommunication where she thinks he only offers to come see her so use her magical powers, she puts him out of the bead.
Sheng was so cute in his excitement. A true innocent.
He's a squishy love bug, it's true. You just want to hug him.

Yu’er worried about his mental state (or the loss of control over him?), goes to see Muyun De. She tells him all about Sheng’s botched meeting with the woman and how he now studies on his own. Muyun De promises to help and she leaves relieved. One to never dally, De suggests killing Sheng to get the bead since he can also see her but Mr Mo tells him to assist him instead while he investigates a bit more on the woman in the bead’s mysterious provenance.
Evil De!!!!! You want to kill my darling Sheng???? Not allowed!
Damn you, De! Why all the suspicion for Yu'er? I don't get it. She cares for Sheng and I don't think she thinks she can ever really 'be' with him, anyway. Even if it's a mistake to go to De, it's going to be a mistake made with the best of intentions.

De goes to see Sheng and tells him he can help him out in affairs of the heart - while shooting hot glances at Yu’er (Noooooo). Sigh, I can see where this is going.
Dammit. She'll be gone soon. He has perfected the smoldering "I want you" look.
De-licious.

Back to the Palace, the battle for the Crown Prince rages on. To summarize, nothing has changed, the other princes are still out-stationed and the King won’t make a decision. The Emperor however loses consciousness during the proceedings which sends everyone into a tizzy.
Me too. EEEEEMPY!
Is she poisoning him, that witch of a wife of his?

Shuo showing a glimmer of his former badass self, issues orders to keep Emperor’s condition secret, to fortify the pass that links from Arch Ye province and to make preparations to possibly anoint Muyun Han all to his friend Minister Gusong's delight and Nanku Qi’s fury. Nanku Qi brings up Han Jiang but that fails to rile General Shuo.
I am on the fence about General Shuo. What I like: his absolute loyalty. What I don't like: pretty much everything else. By the way, are we sure Han is still alive? He has not been seen since forever.
Shuo is a very clear about his duty and puts that above all else, or at least tries very hard to do so. We've all seen that he could not bring himself to kill Han Jiang, so he must also love his family very much. He is not a bad man, and there is much to admire about his character, but I would not want him for a husband or as the father of my children because I think in almost every situation, we'd come last.

HeGe hears about all these and also hears (as do we for the first time) about a Sovereign Seal which is long lost, but conveys the Throne to any Muyun descendant that finds it. That's just so stupid, whoever came up with it. He however decides a forged will is the way to go. His ladylove, Nanku Niece (HuGe’s blackmailer! So pretty) says she’ll help as she is good at forging handwriting. What a perfect match! He seems really, really into her. I can’t quite get a good read on her feelings though.
This actress is great, she just oozes evilness. I really like that she has him wrapped about all her fingers tightly. They're a hot couple, with real making out! I am sure they've also slept together, tststs.
Oh, I think she's definitely into him - as long as she thinks he's going to be Emperor some day. The minute he's permanently out of contention, he'll be nothing to her.

The Muru men enjoy a spot of sparring before sitting down for a family meal. At the meal Han Shan tells his dad that though Shang Yan pass has been fortified, Nanku Qi has planted his generals there and had also refused to fortify Tian Qi further. Shuo then accuses Han Shan of stalling from finding Han Jiang and killing him (WHAT!)
Well, it's true, haha. Bravo, Han Shan, you win a medal for being Brother of the Year. I still don't get why Muru Shuo thought it was a good idea to give Nanku Qi power. What an idiot.
Don't get me wrong, I'm thoroughly enjoying the show...but there are times when it doesn't bear looking at too closely.

Which bring us to our very first grown-up Han Jiang sighting! He and a Corporal Wang have an underwater contest which he wins. Of course :)
