Lucia breaks off the kiss with Roman and asks him for more time. This should be yet another BIG red sign to Roman that he is nothing more than a rebound, but he soldiers on. He tells Lucia she can have as much time as she needs (as long as that time is no longer than a week, I’m sure), but he has one condition—that they spend that time TOGETHER. Lucia agrees, and they get back to drinking their pre-dinner wine.

Sara rips into Leti for sharing her personal business with Ric that she was sick. He waltzed right into her bedroom, like he owned the place! Leti thinks he was just being nice, but Sara makes it clear that she and Ric will never, ever be friends. “Well, your friend Magdalena doesn’t feel the same.” Leti spills about the tryst in the park she just spied between Ric and Magda. Sara definitely knows what that was about.

Sergio arrives, and Leti tells him she was fighting with her mom about her father. Sergio thinks Sara likely has perfectly good reasons for not wanting to be near the guy, and he doesn't have a high opinion of him either. Leti thinks he’s not so bad, and in fact, she wants Sergio to meet him. She asks how things went in the courts, and Sergio nearly forgot that’s the lie he told about where he was going when he went to see Nora. He continues the lies when he gets a text alert from Nora, and tells Leti it’s Rod.

Sara calls Nazario, who still looks shaken up over the death of Trini’s bird. She tells him that she told Magda about Rebeca possibly being Adriana’s killer, and then Magda went straight to Ric. She’s giving Naz a heads up, in case Magda comes to him. Naz asks if Sara told Magda about their suspicions of Rebeca being involved in Alonso’s death too, and is relieved to hear she didn’t.

At dinner with Mario, Magda is quiet, unable to eat, and is evasive. When Mario mentions that Samuel came to see him and asked Mario about her, Magda gets nervous. She assures Mario that she’s happy, when he asks. Mario suggests they go away for a few days, since they had to cut their honeymoon short. Magda thanks him, and even gives him a lovely kiss on the hand, but tells him she has too much work at the hospital right now. Mario looks worried.

On the mean streets of Puebla, two cars pull up next to each other at a stoplight. Lucia is in the passenger seat of Roman’s car, and he chatters away, not noticing that Marcelo is the driver in the other car, and that Lucia isn’t listening to a word he’s saying because she’s transfixed by Marcelo. Roman drives on, and drones on, without ever realizing.

Lalo pays Clara a visit and scolds her for making him look bad with Normita. Benito gets her off the hook by telling Lalo it was his fault for running off without informing his mom or madrina. Lalo offers to take him out any time he wants, after he gets home from work in the evenings. Clara’s sure Normita won’t hire her again, but she plans to go over the next day to apologize anyway.

Marcelo makes Milagros happy by announcing to her and Rafaela that they are going back to Mexico (City)! Pack your bags, and my stuff, ladies! He’s headed there tomorrow to meet with his old boss about his old job.

Lucia also makes a happy announcement, at least happy for Nora. She tells Nora that she and Roman are now novios—well, they’re giving it a try. Despite being pleased that everything is working out as she planned, Nora still can’t help but get a nasty dig in. “Let’s hope it all doesn’t turn ugly like it did with your other two suitors, because frankly, you don’t really choose well.” Before leaving, Lucia asks about Sergio’s visit. Nora claims he just unexpectedly came to see her. Lucia makes sure Nora knows that Sergio is now Leti’s man, so hands off, hermana.

Over at Bro Central, Rod is in the middle of calling Sergio an idiot for first going to see Nora, and then lying about it to Leti. And when Rod is the sensible one in the conversation, you know you’ve really messed up. Sergio makes all kinds of excuses—she called me, I didn’t call her; she seems sincere, maybe she’s changed; she’s no longer interested in me. Rod is emphatic—Nora will never change; she’s likely plotting something; she’s a viper. If he were Sergio, he would tell Leti, because if she finds out from someone else…

Brigida finds Amador opening a celebratory bottle of midnight white wine. She joins him in celebrating that everything is coming up roses in the fabrica. Even Rod is making headway with Lucia. Brigida still thinks Nora would be a better match for Rod. Amador is dismissive of Nora. He agrees that she inherited her mama’s good looks, but not her elegance, intelligence, sophistication, or her astuteness. Brigida starts to gets a bit jealous with all these effusive compliments for Rebeca, but Amador swears he doesn’t have a thing for her.

The next morning, Magda is waiting in Rebeca’s room when she emerges from her dressing room. She gets straight to it, and asks Rebeca point blank if she killed Adriana. Rebeca gets agitated and indignant, but that doesn’t work on Magda. She makes Rebeca swear on the thing most precious to her, on NORA’S LIFE, that she had nothing to do with Adriana’s death. Rebeca evades the question for a bit, then looks Magda square in the eyes, and swears on Nora’s life. (In case you weren’t keeping track, you can be assured that Karma has noted that both Amador and Rebeca have now sworn on the lives of their only children, while telling a blatant lie.) “If I find out that you had something to do with the death of Adriana, I assure you that I will personally make sure you rot in jail.”

On her way out, Magda sadly contemplates the landing and banister where Adriana fell. Lucia greets her aunt, but Magda has no mind for pleasantries. She begs Lucia to move out of that house and come live with her. She can’t be at peace knowing that Lucia is living there with Rebeca—who hates Lucia because she’s the daughter of Adriana. Lucia knows, but she’s not leaving that house until she’s settled some scores with Rebeca. Magda picks up on how ominous that sounds, but Lucia doesn’t elaborate. Instead she mentions that she plans to keep the promise to her father, to not leave until she gets married. Lucia is sure she can handle Rebeca. Magda insists and says she wants to protect Lucia, but Lucia won’t be swayed. Magda then enters Lucia’s room and hugs and cries over the picture of Adriana.

While Rafaela does all the work packing up Marcelo’s tchotchkes, Mili casually sips her coffee and bitches about being happy to leave Puebla and never hearing Lucia’s name again. Marcelo’s already arrived in D.F. at his apartment. He’s once again assaulted by the memory of finding Federico’s body when he sees the blood stained rug. (Someone should really get rid of that thing for him.) He slides to the floor, and begs Fede forgiveness for having failed him. Marcelo really is on a downward spiral of guilt.

Back in Puebla, the nurse and Alfredo are on hand to take Daniela on her first test walk. And it’s an utter failure. They try over and over again, but Dani’s long, gangly legs give out on her. She can’t feel her legs and starts freaking out about it. The nurse runs off to get a doctor, and Alfie tries to keep Dani calm. When the doctor arrives, he tests Dani and finds that some parts of her legs/feet have feeling, while others don’t. He believes it’s just a matter of time, and they should remain calm. In the meantime, he’s prescribing physical therapy. Alfie insists that he wants to take her back to D.F., so the doctor agrees to discharge her tomorrow, at their own risk. Dani's depressed and doesn’t want to go anywhere. Alfie sweetens the deal by telling her Marcelo’s going back to D.F. too.

Lalo apologizes to Naz for offending him with his comment about him and Normita. Naz says no offense taken, and in fact, he’s been thinking. Normita is a great girl (he really did call her a muchacha) who just needs some company, and he’s an old man, soon to kick the bucket, and he doesn’t want to do it alone, so what the heck! (So romantic! NOT!) Lalo is ten times more excited by the news of a possible Naz-Normita noviazgo than Naz is. Naz breaks off their convo to chat with Lucia about putting a stop to the Provedora de Centro contract, now that the work order has come through.

Lucia and Naz make their case to Rebeca about not going through with the contract. They express their own doubts about the low price and high quantity, and about Al’s deep reservations about it. Rebeca has Normita look for Amador, who’s getting an update from Vini. He tells Amador that Lucia and Naz are plotting against him, but he doesn’t know what they’re plotting. It becomes clear when Amador joins them all in Alonso’s office.

Amador once again says it’s a good business deal for them-- Al only had a problem with it because he had a personal problem with Amador, and the low price is balanced by the high quantity. When Lucia mentions that she believes he’s benefiting from the deal somehow (based on Rod’s half-assed info), Amador challenges them to prove just how. Rebeca decides to side with Amador, and rubs it in Lucia and Naz’s face that she definitely has Nora’s vote, so they are outvoted. When Lucia and Naz leave, she lets Amador know that she doesn’t trust him either, but she sided with him just to stick it to Lucia. “But if I find out that Ricardo has something to do with this, the one who’s going to end this partnership is ME!” Amador gulps, and swears there’s nothing shady going on. In the courtyard, Lucia tells Naz that either Rebeca is Amador’s accomplice in this, or she sided with him just to screw with them. BINGO! Naz has a plan, but he’s not sharing it with Lucia yet.

In the hospital, Alfie and Milagros discuss Dani’s condition. Mili encourages Alfie to head home to rest. She’ll stay with Dani-- she loves her like a daughter and wishes she had a daughter. They say daughters stick close to you, more so than sons. Alfie reminds her that she has/had two great sons. He wonders why she never married again, so that she might have had that daughter. Aw, hell no! I buried two husbands and had no interest in burying a third. Mili rolls her eyes for good measure after Alfie leaves, just thinking about a third husband.

On his way out of the hospital, Alfie bumps into Sara and asks her to share a coffee with him. They sit outside and decide to finally speak informally to each other. Alfie starts fishing for info about whether Sara has kids and her marital status. She tells him about her daughter, being a single mom, and her baby-daddy who just recently came back into the picture. In fact, Alfie knows him—Ricardo Marquez. Yep, the cradle-robbing, gold-digging bastard who was dating his daughter. Alfie’s next question is about Rebeca—he knows Rebeca doesn’t think highly of Sara. “I also have nothing good to say about her…She’s a woman who harms the people closest to her.” Alfie tries to fish for more info, but Sara clams up and takes her leave after wishing him and his daughter a safe trip back home. Alfie looks thoughtful.

Leti’s on the phone, happily making dinner plans with Ricardo for him to meet her novio Sergio. Sergio arrives, and seems intent on telling Leti about Nora’s renewed interest in a "friendship" with him, but Leti’s news about their dinner with her dad derails him. Leti then shares her burning piece of gossip about seeing Magda and her dad in the park last night. Neither of them realizes that Mario is passing by and has heard it all. He walks right in and demands to know WHEN she saw them. Leti tries to walk it back. Maybe it wasn’t them…it was dark…But Mario isn’t listening. He rushes out, fuming.

Sara and Magda chat in the hospital. Magda wants to believe Rebeca is telling the truth, but she’s having a hard time. Sara doesn’t believe Rebeca in the least. Magda’s so confused and upset, she couldn’t even speak to Mario about it. They agree that Lucia must not know.

Lucia lights into Rod for not giving her detailed enough info to really fight Amador and Rebeca. Rod’s obviously having a tough time playing both sides of the fence, and still doesn’t tell Lucia that his dad is an owner of Provedora de Centro. “The next time you want to show me you’re on my side, give me something more concrete!”

In D.F., Marcelo enters a restaurant and calls Rafa to let her know he didn't have luck with his old boss (someone new is in his old job), and he’ll hit the road back to Puebla after he has lunch. Two middle-aged ladies are chatting at a nearby table, and one of them can’t take her eyes off Marcelo from the moment he walks by. She approaches him and asks, “Are you related to Cristobal Escalante? You look exactly like him.” Marcelo also stands and asks if she knew his father. She admits that she knew him VERY well, and mourned his death, more than Marcelo can imagine. It all clicks for Marcelo, and he expectantly asks her if she’s the woman for whom his father was going to divorce his momster?

In the leftovers from yesterday, Jero swears that he will prosecute Agustin if he stole any cuttings from La Bonita. Carlos and Matilde plan on having a double wedding with Lazaro and Karina. Jero tells Padre that Doc Invincible is still alive. Augie reluctantly agrees to put off asking Gonzo for Nata's hand in marriage.

On to the main course! Berta fills Fina in on Constanza's condition; she is still alive but can't form any coherent words. Berta is a little put off by Fina's excitement over the news. Now they can move forward with their master plan to hoodwink Regina without interference.

Jero explains the Doc predicament to Padre. The night that oily skunk supposedly died, Jero got a call from the jail. On his not-quite-death-bed, Doc croaks to Jero for help because Augie put the hit out on him. Doc has lots of information about Augie that he could pass along to Jero. "Augie is pulling a dirty trick. He not only wants Nata, he wants everything you own. I have proof." Doc sputters and hopefully chokes on his own blood before their phone call is cut off.

Back in the present, Jero tells Padre that he and the jailhouse doctor faked Doc LousyBum's death to throw Augie's hit-man off the trail. Right now, Doc is the only proof they have of Augie's villainy. Padre promises to keep a lid on it. Given Padre's track record, the whole pueblo will know within hours.

Lazaro asks Ezequiel why he showed him the cuttings that Augie stole. Jero is going to blow his top; there's no way Lazaro can keep it a secret. Zeke's life will be on the line if Laz breathes a word of it to Jero.

Augie accompanies Nata back to Connie's place. Presumably it's no longer a crime scene. At any rate, Augie's possessive side comes out again and Nata almost cringes when he kisses her goodbye. Augie senses that Nata doubts him. He can't put his plans in danger. Augie thinks a fire on Jero's land would be the next best move for him to make but he can't afford to lose his cool yet.

Honorio and Adriana are doing a little better at trying to understand Connie. They make out the words "señora" and "mamá" but are perplexed as to what it might mean. Connie's inner monologue agonizes that no one understands her; their lives could be in danger too. Mercifully, Connie succumbs to sedatives and falls asleep before anyone else can stress her out. Adri convinces Anxious Honorio to leave Connie's side for a while.

Matias goes on the defensive when Chema shows up at the hospital. "Who are you here to see? Connie or Adriana?" Por Dios, Matias, stop making everything about you. Adri and Honorio join them in the waiting room and everyone shuffles their feet awkwardly.

Jero goes into depth about Operation: Doc Ain't Dead. When Karina was told Doc kicked the bucket, Jero went to the jail and found out that Doc was only in a coma. The Jailhouse Doc ends up backing Jero into a corner when he presents Jero with a cooked up death certificate. Jero is uncomfortable being an accomplice to fraud. The plan? If Doc wakes up, they'll give him a new name and transport him to another jail. If not, he dies. Either way, they spared Doc a long, painful death-by-hitman. (Where's the problem in that?)

Jero felt like his hands were tied and had to go along with the plan. He even agreed to help organize the funeral to make it seem legit. They buried a different deceased convict in Doc's place. Padre and Jero are at a loss for what to do next.

Karina asks Lazaro why he seems down in the dumps. He would rather talk about their impending wedding than his problems at the hacienda. Laz suggests they go shopping for wedding rings.

Matias and Honorio gripe about Chema's presence and his relationship with Adri. Hon tells Matias to go after Adriana if he loves her. Matias sulks. He definitely needs some decorations to spice up his pity party.

Adriana fills Chema in on Connie's condition. He cares for Connie as a good friend and realizes that he felt that way for quite a while. It isn't the same as what he feels for Adriana. She asks Chema to leave so they can have this conversation at better time. Chema never meant to intrude and leaves without causing a scene. Matias mean mugs them the whole time from across the room.

Nata steps into the shower and has a good long thought bubble about Jero. She can't forget the wonderful moments they shared but she also can't forget the terrible ones either. Nata remembers how helpful and supportive Augie was after her car accident. Her heart is torn between wanting to run to Jero's side and run away from him forever. Augie has been better to her than Jero ever was; he has been nothing but kind to her.

Chema has a dizzy spell right underneath the Emergency sign at the hospital. If that's not prophetic, I don't know what is. A nurse notices his wooziness and tries to have him admitted but Chema says it's just a migraine.

Berta pays Augie a visit. They must be soul-mates since they are color-coordinated in purple. He wants a little nookie before he heads back to Cruz de Amor. She teases him for not being able to get any from Nata. He criticizes her for not caring about Connie. Berta says that Connie means nothing to her even if she was a mother figure for Nata. Berta gets under Augie's skin by claiming that Nata is using Connie's accident as a pretext to avoid him. Then they fall into bed together anyway.

Padre hates to say it but Karina is still officially married to Doc in the eyes of the church. Jero says they either have to keep the secret or spoil Kari and Lazaro's happiness. Meanwhile, ignorance is bliss as Lazaro and Karina shop for rings. Kari picks one out while Laz tries to buy another one in secret as a surprise for Kari.

That darned Doc moans to the Jailhouse Doc about talking to Jero. Doc swears he is going to use his second chance to make Karina happy. By dying? 'Cause that's the only way to do it.

The oblivious couple run into Padre and Jero outside the church. Lazaro asks Jero to be the best man at the wedding. Jero waffles about having important things to do and Padre acts like an ass when Kari tries to get Jero to explain.

Fina pawns Connie's jewelery for some quick cash.

At the hospital, Connie's doctor finally has a diagnosis. Part of Connie's brain was seriously injured which has caused her to have no control over arms. She cannot hold things or write. Her ability to speak is also severely impaired. Connie cannot communicate using speech because the signal from her brain is not responding. The doctor is uncertain whether Connie's condition will be temporary or permanent. Everyone exchanges concerned and sad looks.

Nata joins the group as Honorio questions the doctor further. He has few encouraging things to say. Recovery time all depends on the patient. Connie will have to undergo both speech and physical therapies and will have to learn to talk again. It can take anywhere from weeks to months or years to reach functionality and there are some who never recover. Despite all this, Connie will get to leave the hospital the next day (that soon after brain surgery?). Nata comforts Honorio as a bumper of a healthier, happier Constanza leads us into the commercial break.

Over at the centro, Regina assures Ines that Connie will recover. Regi will help with Connie's physical therapy in any way she can. Fina calls to torture Regi. "You have less than 24 hours to deliver my money." Regi gives her word that she will meet Fina the next day. Fina teases that she might or might not show up. Ines wheedles it out of Regina that it was Fina who called. Regi admits that Jero loaned her the money to pay Fina. Regi is sure that she will be reunited with her daughter soon.

Hon, Nata, Matias, and Adri visit Connie and actually behave appropriately this time. Nata and Adri are going to stay in the casa to help Connie recover. Hon promises that everyone is going to be very patient in trying to understand when she speaks. Connie smiles and starts to cry from such a show of love.

Berta and Augie freshen up. She hints at knowing something about Nata that will benefit Augie when he finds out what it is. Later, Augie calls Nata and gushes about how much he loves her. Nata admits that she does not feel the same way. Augie has hope she will one day.

Jero checks in with Maritata. He apologizes for getting tied up. Mariana warns Jero that if she is not a priority in his life, they should break things off immediately. Jero missed his plane because of an emergency, not out of disinterest. He wants to begin a new life with her. Mari asks him to promise that if he cannot get over Nata, he has to tell her (Mari). Jero agrees and we end with a kiss.

Avances: Lots of clips of what's to come throughout next week. Honorio emphatically tells Gonzo that Pepa and Fina are the same person (!!!), Jero tells Nata that Fina killed Rafa, Marina asks Jero if he wants to get married, and Augie gets in Jero's face.

The bus carrying Jung-woo turns around and goes back to Woljung Penitentiary at Min-ho’s request, exactly as Jung-woo planned. On his return, the head of security claims an error in the system and sends Jung-woo to the roof where Min-ho waits, though a chain-link fence separates them. “Cha Min-ho,” calls Jung-woo.

Min-ho kneels before him, begging for Jung-woo’s forgiveness. He pleads for Jung-woo to keep his secret, saying he’ll do anything in exchange, then he suddenly drops the act and smiles. “Did you think I’d do that?” he asks.

Jung-woo laughs and calls him a crazy bastard. Min-ho stands, looking at Jung-woo’s bloody fingers, and mockingly comments that it must have hurt a lot. Jung-woo asks why he did it, but Min-ho turns the question back on him. He asks what’s so wrong about him living as Sun-ho—does it harm Jung-woo in some way? He tells Jung-woo he should have just pretended not to know like everyone else and reaped the benefits, and that it’s his fault that Ji-soo and Ha-yeon ended up the way they did.

Jung-woo tells Min-ho he’s going to kill him, but Min-ho just laughs and says Jung-woo can’t—isn’t that why he was going to get transferred, because of Ha-yeon? “And I won’t kill you, either,” Min-ho adds with a smile. “Shall we have a race? A race to find your daughter. Would it be more painful for you to see her die in front of you, or for her to watch you die? I’ll do whatever hurts you more.” Jung-woo yells and slams against the fence, telling him to come through so he can kill him, until guards drag him away.

As he’s escorted back to his cell, Jung-woo reflects that Min-ho’s threat means he doesn’t have Ha-yeon, and that Sung-kyu does. I have to get out of here, he thinks.

Gangster Hyung and Mil-yang welcome Jung-woo back, although Rockfish and Mong-chi grump about having to share the space with one more. To Jung-woo’s surprise, Chul-shik exits the bathroom, and the others tell him “the rich guy” went to a single cell.

In the yard, Chul-shik asks why he’s back when he was supposed to transfer. Jung-woo tells him that Min-ho knows his memory is back. Chul-shik asks if that means it’s over then, but Jung-woo vows to find a way to get out, and Chul-shik says he’ll help.

Min-ho gets a visit from Chairman Cha, who angrily asks what is going on. Min-ho apologizes, but his father says an apology won’t be enough; his lawyer tells Min-ho that he has to undergo investigation again, this time for a paper company Sun-ho created three years ago. He’s accused of accounting fraud, creating a slush fund, bribery, and tax evasion. The lawyer assures Min-ho that he only has to endure it for a few days, as the prosecution is on their side.

Joon-hyuk checks footage from a CCTV near the phone booth Ha-yeon called from, and watches in shock as Sung-kyu leads the little girl away. “Are you Ha-yeon?” he whispers in a panic. He looks at the security photos of Jung-woo with the suitcase, and realizes that if Ha-yeon had been alive all this time, Jung-woo must have known about it too. “But then why did he get caught? What on earth happened that day?” he wonders.

Eun-hye asks her friend Min-kyung to look up information on Sung-kyu, such as anything that might give away his location, but Min-kyung says that’s illegal. Eun-hye pleads with her, saying she could save a life.

A relaxed Min-ho arrives at the prosecution with his lawyer, who is a former prosecutor and sunbae to the prosecutors on Min-ho’s case. The lawyer gives one of the prosecutors his card, telling him to do well and not be embarrassed to face his colleagues when he joins their firm later.

In his office, the warden looks over articles about Min-ho’s suicide as he thinks back to the man’s name written in blood all over the solitary cell’s walls, as well as “Sun-ho” commanding them to bring Jung-woo back immediately when he saw the cell.

Chul-shik whispers to Jung-woo that he’s found a way out, but Mong-chi overhears him, and soon all the cellmates are discussing it. Gangster Hyung says it’s cold and they should wait for spring; Mil-yang warns that another inmate got an extra two years for trying to escape. Mong-chi says if he can get out once, he doesn’t mind spending more years in jail afterward, and asks Chul-shik what he’s figured out. So Chul-shik starts to tell Jung-woo there are seven doors to pass in order to get out.

The warden comes to their cell and takes Jung-woo out to the darkened yard. He mentions Sun-ho’s request to keep an eye on Jung-woo since he came to the jail, and wonders at their connection. Jung-woo tells the warden that he investigated Sun-ho’s brother’s death, saying that theirs could be called an ill-fated relationship. The warden says that at first he thought that was all it was, but now he’s not so sure and asks if Jung-woo knows anything, mentioning Ha-yeon by name.

Jung-woo is silent, so the warden signals the guards in the tower, who aim their rifles at Jung-woo, and then lower them. “In here, I’m the king,” says the warden. He points out that he can make it look like Jung-woo died trying to escape; no one will care. In the few days before Sun-ho returns, he says, Jung-woo should think about whether he can give the warden something bigger than the other man.

Joon-hyuk comes to see Jung-woo the next day and asks why he gave up the final appeal. Jung-woo says it wouldn’t make sense to appeal when he’d confessed, plus, he didn’t want to face Joon-hyuk. Joon-hyuk agrees that an appeal wouldn’t have changed much, and tells Jung-woo that the search for Ha-yeon has been suspended. Jung-woo says it’s all right, and that the only way is for him to regain his memory. The two look at each other in silence; Joon-hyuk wonders why Jung-woo won’t tell him about Ha-yeon, while Jung-woo realizes that Joon-hyuk knows she’s alive.

The doctor bandages Jung-woo’s fingers, saying she knows he won’t tell her what happened, but she’s glad to see him back anyway. He thanks her, but wonders why she cares when she knows he killed his family. She says it’s because he’s her patient; she believes he’ll open his heart to her eventually. Jung-woo notices she has two licenses—one for psychiatry and one for internal medicine—and says she must be smart, but she demurs modestly.

Detectives come to question Yeon-hee about Jennifer’s disappearance, and she pretends to be surprised that her friend is missing. They ask about Jennifer’s relationship with her husband, as the two were seen leaving Jennifer’s hotel together. Yeon-hee claims Sun-ho gave her a ride, since they were also friends.

Yeon-hee goes to visit Min-ho at his interrogation room. Once they’re alone, she asks him where Jennifer is, telling him about the police’s visit. He gets agitated, asking what she told them, but she tells him not to worry. Yeon-hee then sees the papers describing Sun-ho’s illegal accounts and asks if Min-ho trusts his father. “Would Father really not have known about Sun-ho’s paper company?” Min-ho says it’ll be fine once the investigation is over, but Yeon-hee tells him he’ll soon find out what kind of person Chairman Cha is.

Sung-kyu finds Seok and an army of goons waiting for him, and he runs away, losing them. He takes Ha-yeon to a police station and tells her to go inside and tell them her father’s name. She doesn’t want to go, but he sends her off and walks away from her, fighting his own tears. After a moment she runs back to him, taking his hand and saying she’s scared. He asks why, and she says she’s afraid of the police because they took her dad away. Sung-kyu gives her a hug.

In his cell, Jung-woo thinks back to before he regained his memory, when he threatened to kill Min-ho. He takes out a mirror from under his blankets. Later, in the yard, he hides a shard of the mirror in his hand and rubs it against the side of a wooden bench. Tae-soo approaches and asks why he really came back to Woljung Penitentiary—he knows the explanation is a lie.

Jung-woo asks if Tae-soo will believe him if he tells him, and says that Ha-yeon is alive. Tae-soo gets angry and suspicious again, but Jung-woo pushes him against the fence and says, “Believe it or not, Ha-yeon is alive.” Tae-soo asks if he’s going to claim Ji-soo is alive too, but before Jung-woo can answer, another guard comes and pulls Tae-soo away.

Chul-shik sidles up to Jung-woo and asks what’s going on, and Jung-woo tells him he’s found away to get through the seven doors. Chul-shik asks how, and Jung-woo shows him his piece of mirror. The gangster helps with sharpening the piece of glass, but he’s not enthused about the plan, warning that Jung-woo will die if he fails. But Jung-woo just asks if he has money.

Jung-woo has a chat with Raccoon, the prison procurer, asking for keys to the handcuffs used here. Raccoon tells him it’ll be expensive—and as usual, it’ll be twice as much for Jung-woo.

That night, Chul-shik says he’s made tools before so he’ll do his best, and Jung-woo says he trusts him, which makes Chul-shik bashful. Their whispering wakes Rockfish, who wonders why they’ve suddenly become so close when Jung-woo got Chul-shik put away. Chul-shik says he’s just practicing “Love thy enemy.” Ha.

Eun-hye watches a video she recorded of Jung-woo the last time she visited him. In it he speaks to himself, in case he loses his memories again. Jung-woo explains what happened and who is responsible, but that Ha-yeon is alive and that he has to get out so he can save her. He tells himself to trust Eun-hye, who will help him. Eun-hye nods in determination back at him.

Jung-woo tosses and turns in his sleep, dreaming once again of Ji-soo and Ha-yeon trying to wake him. He mutters about Ha-yeon’s birthday, then says, “I’m sorry, Ji-soo,” and sits up, awake. His cellmates surround him, all certain he’s lost his memory again, but he assures them he’s fine. They all sigh in relief and go back to sleep, and Jung-woo, teary-eyed, promises Ji-soo that he will find their daughter.

At the prosecutor’s office, Joon-hyuk reads up on Min-ho’s alleged suicide before he interviews Min-ho in the interrogation room. He asks why the man hired a public defender, and Min-ho replies that he knows Joon-hyuk will take care of things for him either way. Joon-hyuk asks him why he turned himself in for Yeon-hee, and why he got himself sent to Woljung Penitentiary. “I have a friend there,” Joon-hyuk says. “His name is Park Jung-woo. You had an issue with him.” Ahhh, no, why would you tell him that?

Min-ho makes some excuses, but Joon-hyuk only has one thing to say: “Jung-woo’s case is closed. I don’t want there to be a retrial.” He leaves, and Min-ho laughs in delight. Oh, you bastard.

Joon-hyuk looks at his blurry reflection in a window and thinks back to his certainty about Jung-woo’s guilt and his request for the death penalty, and says aloud, “I can’t take all that back. I’m sorry, Jung-woo.”

Jung-woo finishes polishing his shard to a point in the yard. Raccoon pushes by him, pretending to snipe at him as he passes him a key out of the sight of the guards. Chul-shik walks up a moment later and confirms that Jung-woo has the key, and all is now in ready. Tae-soo watches the scene intently.

Jung-woo meets the doctor and tells her he had the dream that always triggered his memory loss before. He says he missed his family so much, but remembered what the doctor had said about finding an answer in the dream. He kept himself from holding his wife and daughter, afraid he would lose all his memories again. The doctor says he’s found a way to keep from forgetting again, but he says now he won’t see Ji-soo again. The doctor says after this hard time, she might appear in his dreams again, and Jung-woo says that maybe she will come to find him.

Sung-kyu takes Ha-yeon to Eun-hye’s aunt’s beauty salon, remembering Jung-woo’s praise for the lawyer. Aunt welcomes them and coos over Ha-yeon, but she suddenly notices the girl has a fever. Ha-yeon collapses in Sung-kyu’s arms, and the ambulance takes them away just as Eun-hye returns home. Ack!

Aunt explains the guests to Eun-hye, and she recognizes Sung-kyu from a photograph her niece shows her. Eun-hye spots Ha-yeon’s forgotten backpack and finds the label which identifies it as belonging to Jung-woo’s daughter. She dashes out, calling emergency services to find out where Ha-yeon was taken.

Sung-kyu is told Ha-yeon has pneumonia and that she must be admitted. Eun-hye speeds to the emergency room, but Seok and his goons have already arrived, although they don’t find their quarry. Sung-kyu and Ha-yeon hide in a corner and watch the men leave, then flee to somewhere Sung-kyu is sure they won’t be found: Chamyung Hospital.

Min-ho arrives back at the prison, and Chul-shik asks Jung-woo if he’s sure he wants to do this. On their next exercise break, Jung-woo hands him the sharpened glass and tells him it’s the only way. Chul-shik reluctantly clasps his hand in agreement.

When they’re heading back to their cells, Chul-shik looks back at Jung-woo, who winks. Chul-shik leaves the line and walks toward Jung-woo. He says quietly, “Goodbye, Park Jung-woo,” and stabs him with the glass, then keeps walking, though he pauses next to Min-ho. Jung-woo collapses, and Min-ho realizes he’s holding a bloody shard of glass in his hand and drops it. Guards immediately apprehend a protesting Min-ho, and Tae-soo rushes over to Jung-woo, who clutches his wound and smiles slightly.

Min-ho is dragged away and put in solitary confinement, and the guard ignores his protests, telling him he’s gone too far—and besides, his friend the warden isn’t here right now.

Tae-soo and his colleague take Jung-woo to the doctor, and after Jung-woo grabs her wrist meaningfully, she tells them he needs surgery and will have to be moved, overriding their protests. They strap him to a gurney, and Jung-woo counts each of the seven doors as the guards unlock them and wheel him through.

We flash back to Jung-woo explaining his plan to Chul-shik: He told the gangster to stab him so he’d have to be transferred out to a hospital, because the doctor doesn’t specialize in surgery. He’d wanted to get out before Min-ho arrived, but since the man had arrived earlier than expected, they changed their plan to frame him instead.

When Min-ho finds out where Jung-woo is headed, he pulls his strings, and the ambulance is told to head to Chamyung Hospital instead, despite the protests of the doctor that it will take too long, and Jung-woo’s panic. Min-ho tells Seok to head over, and tells the warden he needs to go to Chamyung Hospital too. When the warden says it will be difficult, Min-ho simply cuts his hand with the glass shard and says he needs treatment.

Jung-woo arrives at the hospital and is taken into surgery, one wrist handcuffed to his bed. When Jung-woo’s nurses step away for a minute, he takes the key Raccoon gave him out of his mouth and tries it on the handcuffs, but it doesn’t work—Raccoon tricked him. A doctor comes then and takes Jung-woo’s gurney into another room, though we don’t see his face at first.

Once he draws the curtain, the doctor removes his mask—it’s Tae-soo. “Is Ha-yeon really alive?” he asks. Jung-woo nods. Tae-soo says he doesn’t believe it. “Not until you bring her in front of me,” he adds, and unlocks Jung-woo’s handcuffs. He gives his brother-in-law scrubs and a cell phone, and Jung-woo thanks him. Tae-soo returns to the others just as they discover that the prisoner has disappeared.

Jung-woo stumbles into the stairwell dressed as a doctor, his wound bleeding heavily. Meanwhile, Eun-hye’s friend calls her with information about Sung-kyu’s recent internet access, and she heads to the location Min-kyung provides.

Jung-woo reaches the parking garage and calls Eun-hye, telling her to come pick him up. Eun-hye says that she’s found Ha-yeon; she’s sick and at Chamyung Hospital. Jung-woo says excitedly that he’s already there, and that he’ll find her. He makes his way to the pediatrics ward, avoiding Min-ho’s men as he goes. He keeps trying different rooms without success, the pain of his wound growing worse, when he spots Sung-kyu walking away down the hall.

He enters the room Sung-kyu just left. The first bed contains a stranger. He walks to the drawn curtain of the second bed and closes his eyes, then pulls the curtain back to see his sleeping daughter. “Ha-yeon,” he whispers, and cries as he walks toward her. “Daddy’s little girl. My Ha-yeon.” He kisses her forehead.
